Barbara Class obtained, in August 2009, her PhD from TECFA, Faculty of Psychology and Education, University of Geneva. The dissertation's title: A blended socio-constructivist course with an activity-based, collaborative learning environment intended for trainers of conference interpreters.

Prior to that, she obtained  a Licence es lettres from the University of Lausanne in 1996 and a Masters degree in educational technologies from TECFA, Faculty of Psychology and Education, University of Geneva in 2000.

She has been lecturer at FTI (Faculté de Traduction et d’Interprétation) since 2004. Apart from teaching in continuing education programs at FTI, she acts as instructional designer and pedagogical advisor. From 2000 to 2004, she was a research assistant at TECFA.

Her research interests include using technology for pedagogical purposes; active learning; tutoring support; portal based learning, practice-based research and the complementarity of rich blended scenario (face-to-face /distance, individual/collaborative, etc.).
