Born in Elx (Spain), Begonya did her first translation and interpretation studies in Granada. She took part in a EU project called Applied Languages-Europe, which allowed her to study also in Aix-en-Provence (France) and London (UK).

In 1997 she moved to Geneva, where she obtained a Diplôme d'Interprète de Conférence. In 1999, she started working as a free-lance interpreter, most of the times for international organizations of the UN family.

She teaches at ETI since 2007 and was one of the participants of the MAS in interpreting training in 2006.  She was also one of its tutors in the 2008 and 2010 editions.
